Dear family and friends of Grégoire and everyone at SML who
has worked with him and knew him well,

I am sending my deepest sympathy to you all during this
extremely difficult time and wanted to honour Grégoire and
remember him as the fun, generous and thoughtful person that I
had the good fortune to get to know.

I have had the privilege to share some wonderful times with him
in Cape Verde and have been reminiscing of the many nights we
went out to listen to the local music, making fools of ourselves
on the dance floor and drinking, laughing and enjoying the
morabeza culture.

We were really fortunate to be able to be on the island of Sao
Vicente when their local Carnival was in full swing. We hit every
party, got into the Samba groove, heard amazing live bands and
jumped along side the local parades that snaked in and out of
every street in this old Portuguese colony. We both had such a
great time and was definitely the highlight of our Cabo Verde
experience.

Grégoire just loved the music and I can remember him filming a
party down below from the balcony of our hotel and him dancing
around with a huge, happy smile on his face, loving that he was
able to be a part of this and experience it all first hand.
All in all we spent over two months together and what I appreciated
most over and above his hard work and dedication was his
generosity and gentleness as a person towards me. It was the
small details but he would always make sure I was ok, had
enough music and movies on my computer to keep me entertained
on the boring nights, always headed down to our favourite
pizza place to bring lunch back on hung over weekends and
always came to my rescue when I was about to throw my computer
and all of it’s glitches into the pool. If I was having a tough
day he would try and make it better and we spent many a night
over dinner and a good bottle of wine talking of our lives and
experiences.

In some ways Grégoire was also a very private person but he
could not keep his passion concerning his family, girlfriend and
Australia to himself and shared photos and stories of these
loves of his life. It makes me happy to know that he was well
loved and had already had great experiences that enriched his
young life.

Grégoire´s joie de vivre, kindness and fun will surely be his
legacy. We started our journey as colleagues and in the end he
became a very good friend that won a soft spot in my heart. I
already miss him and can still see his cheeky smile that always
made me laugh. My world has lost some of its light….. Grégoire,
I will never forget.

Much love to Grégoire and his family

Julia
Dear Gregoire,

I’d like you to know that in just a few days of knowing you in the
office, you made a lasting impression on me. I remember you
had a constant smile on your face and you just seemed like
such a lovely guy, something which has been confirmed by
everyone who had the chance to spend more time with you.
I remain in hope that you are in a better place now and that you
can happily rest in peace.

Love Julia

Farewell to Gregoire, my greg-boy, my small brother, my friend,
my favourite one to pull through work, my scorpio francais...
In Albania we barely met each other... in Romania we became a
family....in Kazakhstan we were just inseparable through the
good and the bad times...

I dont have words to write and I wont try to fit Gregoire in a few
lines.

Greg always told me that his life had been lived to the fullest
until now and even if the next day brought him somewhere else,
at least he would always know that he didnt miss out something...
So I will stay with that in mind.

Greg loved to dance the song "Children of the Sky"...
Now he is a Child of the Sky himself, watching us from above.

Bisous mon petit
Stephen
As you know, we were shocked and appalled to receive the
worst news imaginable last Wednesday. Our friend and
colleague Gregoire de Bourgues, who was on a project in
Kazakhstan, had his life cut short.

Gregoire was with us for just under one year but in that time
made a huge impact on the people he worked with. At first quiet
and unassuming, when you got to know him better you realized
he had quite a great sense of humour and was a huge amount of
fun. Down to earth, calm and solid, Gregoire will be remembered
first and foremost as a friend to those he worked with and someone
his colleagues could always trust and count on. Although he
was only 24 years old he was mature beyond his years and very
protective for his colleagues. Aside from this, although he was
only with us for a short time, he made a great contribution to
Strategic Media. He was absolutely dedicated to the company,
loved his work and took great pride in everything that he did. He
will be sorely missed.
